Determining the preliminary performance of selected Annonaceae cultivars in subtropical conditions

Plants phenology is extremely important tool for crop management, manipulation, and marketing. The objective of this research was to investigate the fruit quality several Annonaceae species under subtropical conditions Homestead, Florida, USA. study carried out in an experimental sugar apple (Annona squamosa L.), orchard with cultivars: 'LeahReese', 'Lessard Thai' 'Red' atemoya ‘Gefner’ (A. cherimola x A. L). Ten uniformly vigorous healthy plants each cultivar were selected. harvest period similar all cultivars, except sugar-apple which had shortest only 41 days. Multivariate analysis showed that cultivars smaller sizes lower chemical quality. Cultivar "LeahResse" highest fruits, addition, a strong correlation hybrid "Gefner". apples ‘Lessard Thai’ 166-day pruning cycle. In contrast, 'LeahReese' 'Gefner' significantly longer cycles 182 196 days, respectively. best physical characteristics investigated, while physiochemical longest shelf life.
